Energy

Please tell us about energy usage in all of your church buildings for the footprint year. Using a complete year's worth of data will allow you to compare your energy usage year-on-year for the same period and is a useful way to see how well energy saving measures are working.

If you receive quarterly bills, and if those bills are based on estimates, enter the estimated amount of energy consumed – you can correct it later when more, finalised, information is available.

What is your church's annual energy usage for the listed building?
  • Main Church Building
Electricity
kWh
Renewables tariff?

If your organisation is on a 100% Renewables electricity tariff then select "Yes". The net value for your electricity energy carbon footprint will then be set as zero.

Natural Gas
Renewables tariff?

If your organisation is on a 100% Renewables gas tariff then select "Yes". The net value for your gas energy carbon footprint will then be set as zero.

Biomass
Heating Oil
LPG (Propane/Butane)
If this building has solar panels, please enter how much energy they generated, and how much was exported to the grid:
Generated

Solar panels have a small, but not insignificant, carbon footprint related to their fabrication and installation. This footprint can be divided up over the average lifespan of the panels in relation to the energy they generate - the factor we use is, currently, 0.0499 kgCO₂/kWh generated.

kWh
Exported

If your solar panels are connected to the National Grid and you export any energy to the grid, enter the amount here. Energy sent to the grid is shown separately in your carbon footprint results and uses the same emissions factor as normal grid electricity in the UK. If you export more than you use, you may end up, in effect, with a negative carbon footprint - this means you are offsetting emissions elsewhere.
